George, a Global Project Manager in our Measurement Instruments Business Unit in the UK, brings a world of experience to his role, literally. Starting out as an Electro-Technical Officer on P&O cruises, his career has taken him from chemical tankers to offshore construction vessels, including a six-year stint managing equipment in Brazil.
Now at Tracerco, George leads the planning and execution of major projects around the globe.In his current role, George is the steady hand steering complex operations: setting scope, leading delivery teams, monitoring progress, managing budgets, and making sure every stakeholder is satisfied. It’s a role that demands precision, adaptability, and strategic thinking.
“I love working with the people I do every day, and hitting the targets I’ve set for myself,” George shares. His ability to prioritise, schedule, and stay calm under pressure are skills honed through years at sea and on shore, and now put to use solving real-world industrial challenges.
Advice for aspiring engineers and project managers
George’s advice for anyone considering a similar path is simple:
“Be a good planner, be open to an ever-changing environment, and travel when you can.”
Life beyond work
Outside of work, George is still exploring new horizons, though perhaps a little closer to home. Whether it’s enjoying a Christmas party with colleagues or spending time with Henry, his Cavapoo puppy, he brings the same energy and optimism to life outside the office.
And while he admits his singing voice is a “crime against music,” he’s always up for a laugh (and a good cup of tea). When asked who he’d trade jobs with for a day, George’s answer was immediate: Tiger Woods.
