At Tracerco, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Every role, every shift, and every story plays a vital part in our success. Through our Working Lives campaign, we’re shining a light on the individuals whose dedication, innovation, and teamwork power our business around the world.

Today, we’re excited to introduce Vanessa, a Reservoir Technical Consultant based in Rio de Janeiro. With deep technical expertise and a passion for problem-solving, Vanessa plays a key role in helping our customers better understand their reservoirs using advanced tracer technologies to unlock critical insights.

From research to real-world impact

Vanessa’s career in Oil & Gas began in academia, where she worked as a researcher in a petroleum engineering group in Rio. She later completed an internship with Galp in Lisbon, gaining invaluable experience in reservoir geology and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. These early opportunities paved the way for her transition into a technical consulting role at Tracerco.

Now, she leads our tracer projects in Brazil, applying Tracerco’s Inflow and Interwell tracer technologies to support reservoir characterisation. It's a highly technical role – but also one that requires strong adaptability and customer understanding.

“Every customer is different,” Vanessa says. “Even though my job is technical, I need to stay flexible and responsive to their specific needs.”

The heart of the job

What keeps Vanessa excited about her work? It's the constant learning and collaboration. Her favourite part of the job is working closely with customers and her colleagues on the Reservoir Technologies team to analyse results and develop solutions.

“No two days are the same. There’s always something new to learn or improve,” she shares.
She credits flexibility and critical thinking as the most important skills in her role and offers this advice to anyone looking to follow a similar path: “Prepare yourself, do your best every day, be professional, always keep learning, and ask questions.”

Beyond the job

Vanessa also embraces life beyond the workplace. She’s currently training for her first marathon – and even a trail run! She enjoys travelling (with Brighton, England a favourite destination), and recently found inspiration in the film Lee, the story of a fearless World War II photojournalist.

One of her most memorable experiences at Tracerco was participating in the Costa Rica 2025 Challenge, where she supported a local community through a fundraising campaign. “It was an incredible experience, being part of something meaningful alongside such energetic, inspiring colleagues.”

Another proud moment was co-authoring a technical paper with Brava Energy for the OTC 2025 conference, showcasing Tracerco’s inflow tracer application in Brazil’s Atlanta Field. “It’s rewarding to see our work shared with the industry and to know we’re making a difference.”

Why Vanessa represents what is special about Tracerco

Vanessa’s story is a powerful reminder of what makes Tracerco such a unique place to work. Her curiosity, technical skill, and collaborative spirit reflect the values that drive our team globally.

If you’re looking for a place where your work has real impact, where innovation is part of everyday life, and where your growth is supported every step of the way, Tracerco might be the place for you.
