At Tracerco, our people are at the heart of everything we do. In our Working Lives series, we shine a light on the incredible talent across our global business.
This time, we are heading to Malaysia to meet Francesco Falsini, Business Development Manager for our Reservoir business in the Asia Pacific region.
A global career, shaped by curiosity and growth
Francesco’s career began as a geologist in Libya in the mid-90s. Over the decades, he has taken on technical, sales, and leadership roles with major players including Baker Hughes, Weatherford, Schlumberger, and GeoTeric.
His journey has spanned markets from North Africa to Asia Pacific and evolved from technical expertise into business development, regional management, and strategic growth.
Today, at Tracerco, Francesco brings almost 30 years of international experience to help customers optimise reservoir performance and project outcomes.
“Business Development Manager APAC. Code name: Reservoir. License to grow MENA business, outsmart competition, charm clients, and deliver tracer intelligence,” he jokes, adding, “Failure is not an option.”
The people behind the technology
While many imagine business development is all about technology and deals, Francesco says the most important part of his role is people.
“Whether I’m meeting engineers or executives, it’s about listening, understanding their challenges, and building real trust. The tech is important, but the human connection is what makes it work.”
This focus on people is also what makes his role most rewarding. “Every meeting, whether in a boardroom or over coffee, is a chance to connect, share stories, and learn something new.”
Inspired by teamwork
Although he only joined Tracerco a few months back, Francesco already feels at home. He recalls the positive energy at a recent management meeting in May:
“The atmosphere was inspiring. It made me feel immediately part of a motivated and collaborative team. I loved it!”
Life outside of work
Outside the office, Francesco balances endurance and adventure. He is a marathon runner and a motorcycle enthusiast, passions that reflect both discipline and freedom. He’s also a night owl (unless customers require otherwise), a coffee devotee, and a keen traveller with Namibia topping his list of favourite destinations.
Advice for the next generation
For anyone considering a similar career path, Francesco’s advice is clear:
“Be curious, be adaptable, and never underestimate the value of relationships.
“Technical expertise will open doors, but listening, empathy, and trust will keep them open.”
Francesco’s story is just one example of the diverse, dynamic, and inspiring careers at Tracerco. If you’re looking for a place where your skills, ideas, and passions can thrive, why not explore opportunities with us?
